Welcome to CSU!

Colorado State University Parking and Transportation Services supports as many as 20,000 people getting to and around campus. We provide the framework and infrastructure for a multitude of transportation options to students, faculty, staff and visitors. This includes 13,000 parking spaces on three campuses, coordinating nine bus routes through campuses, and facilitating safe commuting for bicyclists, longboarders, scooter riders and pedestrians who are on campuses each day.

There are no restrictions at CSU for freshman to bring their vehicles to campus (35% of freshman choose to bring a car with them to campus).

  • There are over 4,500 spaces dedicated specifically to resident hall parking, with an average of 2,500 resident hall permit holders.
  • There are different permits available depending on where you live on campus, including lower-cost remote options.
  • View a map of designated parking areas for residents of the North Res Halls and South Res Halls.
  • Permits are available in annual, semester, month and daily options.
  • If you are unsure whether you want to keep a vehicle on campus, we recommend purchasing an annual permit. Annual permits have an extended return deadline of March 31, providing time to get familiar with campus and decide if you want to keep a vehicle on campus or are more comfortable with alternative methods of transportation such as public transit, biking, or walking.

CSU is proud to be one of eight universities in the US with the highest (platinum) designation for bike-friendliness from the League of American Bicyclists and we are also located in a platinum-rated City, Fort Collins. You will enjoy many miles of bike paths and lanes throughout of community. Here are a few things to keep in mind if you plan to bike at CSU:

  • We have over 18,000 bike parking spaces; just be sure to bring a u-lock to secure your bike.
  • Register your bike with CSU Police ($10 for the life of the sticker).

CSU offers several shared modes to suit your transportation needs:

  • ZipCar carshare has eleven cars available for short-term rental right on campus for students 18 years and older, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Reserve and pay by the half-hour. $25 annual memberships for students.
  • Spin Electric Scooters and E-Bikes are available on and around the CSU campus, as well as throughout Fort Collins. Scooters and E-Bikes can be
found & unlocked using the Spin App and rides are a flat unlock fee + per minute rate.
  • RamRide is a free, safe ride home.
  • Shared permits: If students want to share a permit, they can purchase a permit under one person’s name and account and plan with a friend on how they will alternate visits to campus. A permit only allows one vehicle to be on campus at any given time so a shared permit requires careful planning by the permit holder to ensure the permit is not misused resulting in a citation that will be placed on their account as the responsible permit holder. A student can add or remove vehicles from their account as needed.
